What is an Educational Assessment?

A psychoeducational assessment consists of a series of meetings between your child or loved one and our Clear Skies founder and testing administrator, Dr. Antonia Colton.  During these meetings,  Dr. Colton will administer a series of verbal and non-verbal "tests" that are clinically designed and proven to diagnose a wide range of possible learning related deficits or disabilities.  At its conclusion, the patient is provided with a detailed diagnosis together with recommendations for both remediation and accommodation.  This thorough, written report is accepted by all learning institutions and can be provided to schools and educational testing services in support of  IEPs, 504 plans, or requested educational testing accommodations.

what is included in a clear skies educational assessment?

A Clear Skies educational assessment is comprehensive and includes a complete battery of exams, including testing for ADHD, auditory processing issues, visual processing issues, learning impediments, and social/emotional issues.  A Clear Skies assessment also includes interviews with parents and educators, as well as anonymous classroom observation if permitted and necessary.  Finally, if the Clear Skies assessment is provided to a school in support of an IEP or 504 plan request, Dr. Colton will attend any meeting with school personnel in order to present both her findings and recommendations.  All of this is included in the total cost of a Clear Skies assessment with no additional charges or hidden fees.

How Long does the educational assessment process take?

A typical assessment requires 8 to 12 individual sessions lasting from 90 to 120 minutes.  This timetable is highly age and patient dependent, however, and can vary significantly depending on the patient's ability to move through the assessment batteries.

how much does an EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT cosT?

A complete Clear Skies psychoeductional assessment is $6,000, billed to the patient at the start of testing.  Health insurance will often cover a portion of this cost and, depending on insurance plan, patients can expect to receive a reimbursement of about 1/4 to 1/3 of their total fee.

Clear Skies can also provide tailored assessments that are billed hourly at the rate of $400-500/hour depending on individual need.
